What is SharePoint Dev Kitchen?
The Microsoft Developer Kitchen is an INVITE-ONLY event held in Redmond, US with the SharePoint framework development teams and product managers for select partners. Cognizant has been granted one attendee. This event is held once a year and will only accept something less than 100 participants. This event is tailored to SharePoint framework lead developers who will help define and test the new APIs Microsoft is thinking about developing – and/or APIs which they are in the process of developing. This first-look event is critical for our teams to see what is coming and educate all the non-event attendees about what is coming soon in the framework.
Thank you so much to George, Suzanne and Chundur, Sainath and Cognizant for giving me this golden opportunity. It was a great learning experience from the Microsoft Product Group, introducing us to the new concepts, and we tried to apply newly acquired knowledge by building Microsoft Teams and SPFx solutions. The presentations were delivered by the developers who built the particular features below.
1. Bring SPFx Solutions into Teams Tab
2. Bring Provider-hosted app into SharePoint or Bring Teams Solutions into SharePoint.
This event was invaluable because when we had questions, we got directly answers from the developers and we had the opportunity to look at Microsoft’s latest efforts so early. At the same time we came to know the importance that Microsoft was giving to each one of us by listening to the real-world feedback.
By using everything I’ve learned at the Dev Kitchen, I managed to build a solution on the Microsoft Teams and SharePoint Framework. During the Dev Kitchen, we raised issues, provided feedback and all our queries were answered vividly by the Microsoft developers.
I can undoubtedly say that I gained what I expected to receive from the SharePoint Dev Kitchen. Not only I learned about the new MS Teams and SPFx integration, but also I had the opportunity to get some ideas from Product group and other SharePoint Experts.
